Sharing the story behind the sale of these two homes is extra special because the buyers are my little brother and my sister-in-law. The hard-working pair began their journey with a starter property in Compton. That first home was a foreclosure and a fixer. They saved to complete improvements on the property and built equity through the years. The two bedroom served them well as a young couple, but after my niece and nephew were born, it was clear that they would need more space and a better school district.
When I received the call from them that they were ready to make the next move for their family, I couldn’t have been prouder. I worked our 10 step marketing system to ensure we created multiple offers for them on their Compton property so that we would have back up offers ready if needed. This part was critical as the purchase of the new home was dependent or “contingent” on the sale of the Compton property.
As Murphy’s law would have it, we did need those backup offers. Our first escrow started to get shaky as banks were bogged down with a wave of refinance and purchase activity unlike anything we’ve seen in years. Luckily, we were able to go to our backup buyers and get back on track quickly.
I’m happy to report that their starter home sold for $20,000 over list price and they are now proud home owners of beautiful La Mirada home.
